Oh No!! NOT STEVE MOTHER FUGGING EAGLE!!

In 2011/2012 I stopped touring altogether with the exception being a fly out date here or there or doing a little three or four date stint with one of my older bands. The Hellions(TX) have done the most as far as that is concerned. The Hellions were/are a punk crossover metal band that I played in starting back in 1999. It has/had a lot of power house players and they/we still do shows on occasion. I'll talk about them more in another post.

When I stopped chasing music so hard I didn't stop playing. I just stopped caring about the end result as far as money and album sales and merch sales and etc…. I was playing for me again, and for fun again.

Since I wasn't pursuing a band or a career in music anymore, Steve MF Eagle was born. I always loved seventies rock and 70 and 80s glam shit but the aesthetic of both genres had really hysterically funny things about them to me. That was/is Steve Eagle. Steve Eagle is the creepy uncle. Steve Eagle is the old guy that hangs out at the skating rink creeping out the kids and getting the cops called on him. Steve Eagle doesn't realize that those decades have left him behind….

I started using this alter ego type character as my catch all for songs that really didn't have a home. Songs that were kind of goofs; songs that were embarrassing for me because they were silly. The alter ego also took on a life of it's own because when I would tell my friends about him they would help add to the backstory of this character. Things like, Steve Eagle is so cool that he wears cut off jeans for underwear. We are dumb. What can I say. The songs are all variations of songs that I have about 5000 recordings of. I really can't stop beating a dead horse sometimes. Two are from when me and my friend Josh were going through our pirate phase. One was done with my friend and colleague Brandon Elwood when I was at home recovering from Pneumonia, and a couple are just my nonsense songs.

I'll be dropping that,an album or E.P. of Metal Songs I recorded in the desert,  and the Suckbutton stuff really soon. I'm playing with a lot of new studio tools. Things have come a long way from cutting and splicing tape.  The Hellions(TX) do have some newer songs on the way as well. Stay Tuned or Tune in. Or don't.
